things we notice, in no particular order, to be updated:
no peanut butter (i find this especially weird since even rural tanzania had mashed up peanut butter. the kind you have to stir in the oil. it was horrible on our stomachs, but we still ate it.) here they have some powdered milk+peanuts kind of mixture, but that's not my style. i miss real, natural peanut butter. or even some jif.
countdown traffic lights. no "yellow" lights, just a row of green that counts down to red.
no washcloths. yep, neither hotel has offered washcloths. my brother now believes all brazilians travel with their own loofahs.
tax is added into prices.
no left turns. a la new jersey, only "retorno" which signals a roundabout (literally, return). we made one left turn. in front of the police. almost gave my sister a heart attack.
dinner for brazilians is at 8 at the earliest. more like 9.
and the beach has been windy up to today, so i am going to go enjoy the still air! i will update this with more input from the fam later.

watch out for hand gestures!! our version of "ok" is actually what they use instead of the middle finger! :) we had a lot of laughs about that when we visited my brother several years ago!
