pics as promised

the first three photos are from la boca, the area in argentina traditionally settled by immigrants. we took pics in the cute touristy area, which is an industry unto itself. its like disneyland in the middle of the bronx. one block off, it gets a bit dodgy. (i went with 2 aussies, and dodgy is the word.)

other than being colorful...

and bringing new words to my vocabulary (dodgy)...

the bonus of these pics is that i am actually in them! (also meaning i was with people)

this is a pic of a bank and also one of the very, very few ugly buildings in BsAs. it is very old worldy otherwise. the majority of the banks have more graffitti, bashings, or just spray paint than usual around their doors. i read in the guide book that when the peso falls and people make runs on the bank, they get angry when the banks won't release their savings.

and recoleta cemetary, a cemetary unlike any i've seen. full of tombs, as well as where evita is buried.

those were all from the cemetary.

from the tango show. it wasn't that great, but the dancers themselves were very good. i was just sad because we only saw one couple dance, i wanted a bigger production. the accordian player was worth the price of admission, though.
