san diego and the mediterranean coast

we are trying to decide where/what florianopolis reminds us of. it reminds my dad of san diego without the big conference center.

though we have never been to italy or greece or anywhere along the mediterranean, my brother and i think this must be a bit like how it is/feels. plus i read in the guidebooks that it has a "very european feel"...not that i've ever felt that feel in europe. hey, did i mention that i've never been to continental (western) europe? yeah, i haven't.

we also decided the area we were today (pictured) was kind of like a little theme park of brazil. like euro disney. or the brazil part of epcot. (also- never been to either of those places, so... i may be way off). we were saying a bit like opryland, the old themepark nashville used to have. because of the cute brightly colored old-style buildings and people hawking their wares. ...but this was the real thing!

Opryland! Love the reference. Unfortunately, I can only think of the Opryland Hotel...at Christmas. Your pics have fewer twinkly lights.

Can't wait to see you when you come home!

...and yes, definitely more motivation to plan a fabulous getaway to see my dear CPK in her (now) native land. :)
